A New World Order[]

The Second World War was the largest and most destructive conflict ever witnessed in human history. It was a clash of ideologies and the final showdown between empires vying for the position of standing as this world’s greatest superpower. The victors shall be the uktimate deciding factor for the future order of all of nations on this planet. Will contemporary progressive ideals of democracy and liberty triumph over those of repressive communism, or the nationalistic militarized regimes of National Socialism and Fascism which mirror the culture of dominance and superiority of the empires of the Old World? There seemed only to be the option of total war to determine which ideals shall prove the most enduring...

Following the breakout of the Second World War on September 1st, 1939, when the German Reich stormed into the interior of Poland to reclaim what Hitler saw as rightful German land, few expected how long this conflict would last, let alone the magnititude it would soon reach. The British Empire, fighting to defend its mainland in Europe, and its crown colonies in Asia from both German and Japanese forces, there was only one nation which could turn the tides for Great Britain: the United States of America. Churchill relentlessly begged President Roosevelt for assistance in the war, claiming that democracy in Europe as a whole may be wiped out. While President Roosevelt sympathized with the desperate British Prime Minister, the American people did not. Still reeling from the hardships of the Depression, the vast majority of Americans held very little interest in sending their own people to die for a foreign war that has little impact on the country.

Meanwhile in the Far East, the Japanese Empire rapidly growing as an ascendant world power from various triumphant conquests in Manchuria and other parts of Asia debated future military expansion. The Emperor Hirohito seriously considered the idea of launching a surprise air assault on the United States’ Pacific naval fleet, the majority of it concentrated in Hawaii at the time. The Emperor was furious at the American government for imposing a harsh trade embargo of oil and other vital resources desperately needed to fuel the Japanese war machine. However, after much deliberation with between Hirohito and his military advisors, its was decided that avoiding any form of conflict with the Americans would be the safest form of action.

Following a rapid victory in the Balkans achieved by joint Italian-German forces in the early spring of 1941, and both France as well as Scandinavia secured by German forces to counter any potential British invasions, Hitler focused all of the Reich’s available resources towards the total mobilization of the hundreds of Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS divisions amassed upon the eastern border with the Soviet Union. Then on May 15th, 1941, the German Reich and it’s fellow Axis allies launched the greatest military invasion ever witnessed...At this point, everything was to change.
