Reichsprotektorate Ostland

Leader: SS-Standartenführer Kārlis Lobe

Government: German Military Administrative State

Ideology: National Socialism

Capital: Riga

Status: German Protectorate with Limited Autonomy

The Reichsprotektorate Ostland was established immedietly after the Fall of Moscow in 1945. The protectorate is a union of the three Baltic states of Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia and is governed by a military authority comprised mainly of high-ranking Waffen-SS foreign legionaries native to the Baltics along with a number of German government officials as well. The leader of the Ostsee Protektorate is a renown colonel (or "Standartenführer") of the 19th Waffen-SS Grenedier Division (2nd Latvian) foreign legion by the name of Kārlis Lobe, a war hero responsible for a string of decisive victories against the Red Army while fighting on the Eastern Front. His many commendations and proven loyalty to the German Reich and its efforts in the east had earned Hitler's admiration, hand-picking Lobe to lead the Baltic protectorate.

Ostland

As of now, no real plans have been established regarding the future of the Baltic states. The Baltic people have proven themselves to be unwaveringly loyal allies to the Germans which in turn has exempted them from being subject to the aggressive Generalplan Ost policies or the relocation initiative as part of the Lebensraum project, involving the mass-transfers of the Eastern European population to make room for German colonists. Some time in the future, it is likely that the Baltic states will be granted relatively full independence from the German Reich, allowing for the restoration of the former 3 individual Baltic states and their own respective governments. But with the threat of the Soviet Union still looming just across the Urals, such changes will not likely occur any time soon.

Many of the Baltic peoples have willingly enlisted into the SS foreign legions with the hopes of assisting in putting the final nail in the coffin of what remains of Stalin's USSR. In what exists as essentially a SS military state, the Ostsee Protektorate is actively building up its legions in order to aid the Reich in whatever military endeavors it may have in the future.
